A warm welcome to the Steam Trumpet

The Steam Trumpet is located in Thornton near to the famous trout fishing reservoir and just 3 miles from Junction 22 of the M1. It’s name is taken from a steam locomotive accident that occurred in Thornton in 1833.

Home-cooked food and hand-pulled ales

The latest addition to the Steamin’ Billy brand, the Trumpet is a truly wonderful village pub and eating house. There are 8 handpulled real ales on offer, as well as a fine selection of continental lagers and wonderful wines – perfect to accompany the fantastic home cooked dishes available, served 7 days and nights a week.

With a great old fashioned locals bar as well as a lounge area with a contemporary twist, The Trumpet has something for everyone. Whether it’s a quality Ale by the old fashioned range or a glass of Wine and family meal in the lounge area, you’re sure to enjoy your stay.

A fantastic setting

After a walk with the dog around Lady Jack Wood or the Reservoir, you can enjoy spacious al fresco dining on the patio in the summer.

Excellent facilities

Our private reserved lounge areas are an ideal place for family reunions and corporate lunches…why not try our unique slow roast pork cooked in the range or one of our many barbecues held throughout the summer?

Well behaved dogs are very welcome at The Steam Trumpet in the bar areas and in the garden, water bowls are available for thirsty pooches too, ideal after a long walk and a pint of one of cracking ales for you too! A firm favourite with walkers and locals looking for something a little bit special, the Trumpet is a real hidden gem!
